![]() Clare Rustad in China - Entry #2Shannon Boxx, Clare Rustad, Becky Sauerbrunn, and Melissa Tancredi battle for the ball. January 17, 2008Hi Whitecaps fans! Tough game yesterday. We lost to the States 4-0. It is never fun to lose, and even less fun to lose to the US. Regardless of the score, there were some positive aspects of the game and we will use this defeat as a learning experience. A few young ones (including a couple of Whitecaps: Julie Armstrong and Kaylyn Kyle) got their first international caps, which is very exciting. Congratulations to them! As a team, the first half was a great battle. It ended 0-0 and was very even. The second half didn't start out as well as we had hoped, with a goal five minutes in, so the tone of the half just wasn't the same as it was in the first 45 minutes. We fought back after that first goal, but the second goal seemed to deflate us. I currently look like I've been in a brawl, with all of the bruises on my arms and legs. Not sure how I can use that as a learning experience, haha. We were all dead tired after the game. Everyone really put in a great effort regardless of the fact that a few things didn't go our way in the second half. We'll see how the next game against China goes. I'll be sure to let you all know. Bob Birarda is being a bit more secretive about his training for the beep test bet we have going. I'm not sure whether I should take that as a good thing, or whether I should be really, really scared. I think I'll get my trainers to bump my program up a level just in case... Well I think that's it for now. I have to get to a meeting soon, so I'll catch you guys later!
