Galaxy game on GolTV, Shaw and CHED

Vancouver Whitecaps FC announce that the international friendly versus Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy on Tuesday, May 13, at Commonwealth Stadium will be simulcast live on GolTV Canada and Shaw TV.

In addition, Edmonton’s 630 CHED AM will broadcast live radio commentary. The international friendly, scheduled to kick off at 7:00 p.m. MT, will be a rematch of last November's tilt where 48,172 fans filled B.C. Place Stadium in Vancouver to see the two teams battle to a scoreless draw.

GolTV Canada and Shaw TV's broadcast team for the match will feature Lee Godfrey handling the play-by-play duties and former Canadian men's national team member and Vancouver 86ers goalkeeper Paul Dolan serving as an analyst.

On the radio side, Peter Schaad - the voice of the Whitecaps - will call the play-by-play and Alan Errington, a former assistant coach with Canada's men’s national team and Vancouver 86ers, will once again be joining Peter in the broadcast booth as the colour commentator.

The Galaxy, whose roster is highlighted by English international star David Beckham and U.S. international Landon Donovan, are widely considered one of the most successful clubs in the 14-team MLS, having won MLS Cup titles in 2002 and 2005 and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2001 and 2005. They also won the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Champions’ Cup in 2000.

The Whitecaps play in the 11-team United Soccer Leagues First Division (USL-1) and boast a formidable roster. Long-time veterans include Canadian internationals Adrian Cann, Jeff Clarke, Steve Kindel and Martin Nash. All four members were key contributors to the Whitecaps 2006 USL-1 championship season.
