MILBRETT IN TEAM OF THE WEEK

June 28, 2007 - Vancouver Whitecaps FC striker Tiffeny Milbrett has earned a place in the latest W-League Team of the Week.

The former USA international received the weekly honour after her decisive performance in the Whitecaps 4-1 victory over Fort Collins Force in Colorado. The 34-year-old scored twice and helped set up Vancouver’s other two goals in last Friday’s win. The Portland, Oregon native has been in fine form on the club’s Colorado road trip, having scored a further four goals in subsequent wins over Real Colorado Cougars and Mile High Edge this week.

Milbrett is the only Whitecaps player to make the all-star XI this week, having been joined in the side by fellow forwards Jodie Taylor from Ottawa Fury and Amy Epstein from San Diego Sunwaves.

Ottawa midfielder Kelly Parker was named the W-League Player of the Week for her two-goal performance in last Saturday’s 4-1 win over Toronto Lady Lynx. She is joined in midfield by Washington Freedom’s Tara Kidwell, Jersey Sky Blue’s Erla Arnardottir and New Jersey Wildcats’ Jessica O’Rourke.

Ronda Brooks from Atlanta Silverbacks, West Michigan Firewomen’s Tara Wegner, and Northern Virginia Majestics’ Jessica Davis were the defenders to make the team, while Vermont Lady Voltage’s Kristin Luckenbill took the goalkeeping spot.
