MILBRETT NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK

July 5, 2007 - Vancouver Whitecaps FC striker Tiffeny Milbrett has been named W-League Player of the Week.

For the second straight week in a row, the former USA international was also named in the W-League Team of the Week after her stellar performances in Vancouver’s recent four-game road trip in Colorado. The Portland, Oregon, native had three two-goal games during the Whitecaps travels late last month, as Bob Birarda’s side moved to the top of Western Conference standings after claiming three wins and a draw.

Milbrett took the weekly individual award for performances in wins at Real Colorado Cougars on June 25 and Mile High Edge on June 27. She was also one of three strikers to be chosen in the weekly all-star XI, with Sarah Steinman from Atlanta Silverbacks and Kelsey Hans from Minnesota Lightning also getting nods in attack.

A three-player midfield consisting of Michigan Hawks’ Lauren Hill, Northern Virginia Majestics’ Kristen Persichini, and Chicago Gaels’ Juliane Sitch were also named, while Jersey Sky Blue’s Fanta Cooper, Boston Renegades’ Becky Westbury, Richmond Kickers Destiny’s Kylie Davies, and Vermont Lady Voltage’s Kelsey Rdzanek were the defenders to be selected.

Northern Virginia’s Kerri Butler took the goalkeeper position for the weekly honoured side.
