The Whitecaps return to Swangard this Sunday to host Atlanta Silverbacks at 4pm. During the four match road trip the Whitecaps recorded two wins and two losses - Tuesday, July 29 at Miami FC Blues (2-1 W): Friday, August 1 at Carolina RailHawks (3-2 W): Sunday, August 3 at Charleston Battery (2-0 L): Tuesday, August 5 at Atlanta Silverbacks (3-2 L). The Whitecaps are currently tied for tops in the USL-1 with a 10-6-4. PLAYER NOTES At 17 years and 87 days old, midfielder #20 Ethan Gage became the fifth youngest Whitecaps player in franchise history (including the North American Soccer League team) to play for the club. Gage is the youngest player in the Whitecaps Residency program and was a second half sub in the Whitecaps USL-1 2-0 lose to Charleston Battery. SFU product #6 Luca Bellisomo has played every minute of the last six Whitecaps matches as the starting right full-back. Last Tuesday, Bellisomo scored his first goal for the 'Caps in a 3-2 defeat to Atlanta. The newest Whitecaps player is defender #4 Wesley Charles, a powerfully built 6'3” 32-year-old St. Vincent and the Grenadines international, with 93 caps and 4 goals. He joins Vancouver from Galway United FC of the League of Ireland. Charles started in both of the World Cup qualifying games against Canada last month, with the Canadians winning 3-0 in St. Vincent and 4-1 in Montreal. Cuban forward #16 Eduardo Sebrango leads the Whitecaps in scoring with 8 goals and two assists, including five game-winners, and is fourth in USL-1 scoring. Sebrango was the Whitecaps' top-scorer last year with seven goals and one assist. He also led the Nutrilite Canadian Championship in scoring with two goals. Forward #26 Jason Jordan needs one more points to hit 200 in his career, Two more goals would also give Jordan 80 in his career, moving him into second place on the all-time list, ahead of John Catliff. Goalkeeper Srdjan Djekanovic is first among USL-1 goalkeeper with a 0.571 goals against average. He played last year for Toronto FC, making eight appearances. Goalkeeper Jay Nolly is ninth in the USL-1 with a 1.307 goals against average. Midfielder #8 Steve Kindel is three points shy of reaching 100 in his Vancouver career. Midfielder #9 Alfredo Valente is one point shy of trying Ivor Evans for fifth all-time in Whitecaps scoring with 106 points.
