PROFILE
A deceptive striker with a natural ability to score goals, Dever Orgill became the first non-Canadian player to join the Whitecaps Residency's inaugural squad when he signed for the program on Oct. 10, 2007. A native of Port Antonio, Jamaica, the speedy forward has represented the Caribbean nation at youth level in recent years.
VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC-USSF D-2 PRO LEAGUE
2010: Orgill started Vancouver's first-ever match in the United States Soccer Federation Division-2 Professional League (USSF D-2), as he played 66 minutes of the 2-0 home win over NSC Minnesota Stars on Apr. 11.
VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC–USL-1
2008: Orgill received two call-ups to the men's team before making his USL-1 debut as a second-half substitute in the 1-0 home victory over Montreal Impact on Sept. 13, as he replaced goalscorer Charles Gbeke. The striker saw no action during his first call-up to the men's team on May 24, with Orgill returning to play in the PDL with the Residency squad on June 6. His re-call came on Aug. 14, as he joined three Residency teammates in striker Randy Edwini-Bonsu, defender/midfielder Navid Mashinchi, and goalkeeper Simon Thomas in moving up to the first team for the remainder of the season. 2009: The striker made club history on May 16, as he became the first Whitecaps Residency player to score a goal in a men's team match, as the Whitecaps fell 2-1 at home to Rochester Rhinos. He then assisted on Marcus Haber's goal in a 4-0 home win over Minnesota Thunder on July 9 before scoring a late consolation goal in a 2-1 defeat at Miami FC Blues on July 12. Orgill then made his first-ever start for the men's team during a 2-1 away defeat to Carolina RailHawks on July 17. The striker's season then came to a sudden end in August following knee surgery.
WHITECAPS FC RESIDENCY–USL PDL
2008: Orgill made seven PDL appearances for the Residency team, scoring two match-winning goals in the process. His first strike was in the Residency's first-ever PDL match, as they claimed a 3-1 home win over Abbotsford Mariners on May 18. Orgill then struck the winner at Abbotsford on June 22, as Residency defeated the Mariners 4-1. 2009: The striker made the PDL Team of the Week after scoring both goals in the Residency's season-opening 2-2 draw at home to expansion club Victoria Highlanders on May 3. He then scored in the first half of the Residency team's 6-0 home win over Yakima Reds on July 4. 2010: Orgill scored a hat-trick in a losing cause, as the Residency team lost 4-3 at home to Washington Crossfire on July 2. He then scored the first goal in the Residency's win of the PDL season, as the Whitecaps won 2-1 at local rivals Abbotsford Mariners on July 4.
VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC RESIDENCY
2007-08: After joining the program in early Oct. 2007, Orgill appeared in four of the team's six friendly matches during their first trip to Germany later that month. He scored in the 1-1 draw versus VfB Stuttgart U-19's on Oct. 27 and the 4-0 win over SC Zwiesel on Oct. 31. The striker then appeared in all three Bracket C matches of the U-19 Super Group at Dallas Cup XXIX. This included a goal and a sending off in the 3-3 draw versus Germany's Eintracht Frankfurt on Mar. 19, 2008. He also scored in a 2-1 friendly win over England's Leicester City U-19's on Mar. 26. During the team's second trip to Germany in the spring, Orgill scored in a 2-1 victory over SV Stuttgarter Kickers U-19's on Apr. 30 before helping the squad to a third-place finish at the INSEL-CUP junior international tournament in May 2008. 2008-09: Orgill scored five goals in as many matches to lead the Residency team to the U-19 Super Group final at Dallas Cup XXX. This included a two-goal performance in the 2-0 semifinal win over Germany's Eintracht Frankfurt on Apr. 10.
INTERNATIONAL
U-15: In 2005, Orgill earned the Golden Boot award after scoring 12 goals in six matches at the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) U-15 tournament in Trinidad & Tobago. U-17: Orgill scored seven goals in 11 appearances for Jamaica's U-17 national team. In Aug. 2006, the forward struck six goals in seven appearances at the CFU Youth Cup in Trinidad & Tobago. This included two goals in a 3-0 win over Canada on Aug. 21, with Orgill facing several of his Residency teammates as a result. He was then appointed Jamaica captain for the 2007 CONCACAF U-17 Championship. Despite three defeats in Group B of the tournament in Kingston, Jamaica, Orgill scored the equalizer in a 3-2 win over the United States on May 4. U-20: On July 4, 2008, Orgill earned his first call-up to the Jamaican U-20 national team for the first round of Caribbean qualifying towards the 2009 CONCACAF U-20 Championship. Though the Jamaicans won Group B with victories over Puerto Rico, Bermuda, and hosts Cayman Islands later that month, the striker was unable to play because of an injury. In the second round of Caribbean qualifying in Oranjestad, Aruba, Orgill scored on his U-20 international debut on Nov. 20, 2008, as Jamaica defeated Antigua & Barbuda 4-1. He then secured his country a spot in the final round of Caribbean qualifying when he scored all four goals in a 4-0 win over hosts Aruba on Nov. 22. Orgill then helped Jamaica claim their spot in the 2009 CONCACAF U-20 Championship after the U-20 Reggae Boyz finished top of their final round Caribbean qualifying group in Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. On Jan. 9, 2009, Orgill scored in a 1-1 draw with Haiti before he was sent off for two bookable offences in Jamaica's 4-1 win over Dominican Republic on Jan. 11. Jamaica secured their spot at Trinidad & Tobago 2009 with a 2-0 result over hosts Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on Jan. 13. After being named in Jamaica's 20-player squad for the CONCACAF U-20 Championship, the striker started in the Group A matches against the United States on Mar. 6, 2009, and El Salvador on Mar. 8, 2009. In the 2-1 victory over El Salvador, the striker was sent off just before halftime and suspended for Jamaica's final group match versus Honduras on Mar. 10. The 4-0 defeat to the Hondurans meant Jamaica missed out on qualification for the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt.
YOUTH/AMATEUR
Prior to signing with the Whitecaps, Orgill played youth soccer for Progressive FC in Jamaica's Portland Football Association Division One. The striker also represented Titchfield High School in two Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association DaCosta Cup competitions in Jamaica.
