Sebrango makes fifth Team of the Week
Vancouver Whitecaps striker Eduardo Sebrango has been named in the USL First Division Team of the Week for the fifth time this season.
The Cuban hit-man earned a spot in the Week 17 team after scoring two crucial goals in last Sunday's 3-2 home win over Atlanta Silverbacks. The goals took the experienced forward into a four-way tie atop the USL-1 goalscoring charts. Sebrango's previous selections in the weekly all-star XI occurred in Weeks One, Four, Eight, and 13 of the 2008 campaign.
The Whitecaps hit-man was one of three strikers to be selected in the weekly squad, with Atlanta's Macoumba Kandji claiming a place in the team after his performance in last Tuesday's 3-2 home win over Vancouver. On-loan Portland Timbers man Bryan Jordan was also picked after scoring in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Charleston Battery.
Atlanta winger Ansu Toure was one of four midfielders to be selected this week, with the talented African earning his spot after scoring both goals in the Silverbacks' defeat in Vancouver, while his teammate Scott Buete joined him in midfield after claiming two assists at Swangard on Sunday. Puerto Rico Islanders man Edwin Miranda and Minnesota Thunder's Ricardo Sanchez were also selected by the USL.
Puerto Rico's Cristian Arrieta, Rochester's Alfonso Loera, and Montreal Impact's Leonardo Di Lorenzo were the three defenders to be selected, while Miami FC Blues goalkeeper Josh Saunders was named USL-1 Player of the Week after recording nine saves in Friday's goalless draw in Atlanta.
