Sebrango signs with Impact - 24 Hours
Leading scorer Eduardo Sebrango has returned to the Montreal Impact on a two-year contract announced Wednesday.
The 35-year-old Cuban striker scored 12 goals and three assists in 29 league matches in 2008, plus two goals in both the Nutrilite Canadian Championship series and in the USL playoffs.
"This was not an easy decision, as I have really enjoyed my time in Vancouver," Sebrango said in a statement issued by the Whitecaps. "Vancouver has great fans and the Whitecaps are a first-class organization. However my two kids live in Kingston, Ont., and I need to be closer to my family."
Sebrango made his North American debut with the Vancouver Eighty-Sixers in 1999 and also played for the Rochester Rhinos (2000), Hershey Wildcats (2001) and for the Impact (2002-2005). He joined the Whitecaps in a 2006 pre-season trade and was integral in the club's championship that year and in 2008.
