Super Y Finals - BC Day One Report
Mountain WFC enjoyed a successful first day at the USL Super Y-League North American Finals, as all 10 Vancouver Whitecaps FC and BCSA affiliates were in action in Florida on Friday.
All four boys teams from Mountain recorded victories to open their tournament accounts, while their U-16 Girls side started their campaign with a draw.
The opening day of competition proved more of a challenge for Coastal WFC, however, as their four girls teams were unable to find a win on Friday. The U-13 and U-14 Girls both went down to defeat, while the U-15 and U-16 Girls teams each had to settle for draws.
Surrey WFC's lone representative in their U-14 Boys team also drew their first match, while Abbotsford Mariners' three boys teams recorded two draws and a defeat on Friday.

U-13 Girls 0-2 CASL RailHawks
Coastal were unable to put a blemish on the undefeated record of CASL RailHawks, as they fell 2-0 to the North Carolina outfit on Friday. The RailHawks moved to 10-0-0 on the season with the win.
U-14 Girls 0-2 Quickstrike FC
Despite a battling effort, Coastal succumbed to two early goals, as they lost 2-0 to the undefeated Quickstrike FC from New York State.
U-15 Girls 1-1 Diablo FC
Colin Elmes' side started their finals tournament in stalemate, as they drew 1-1 with Diablo FC from Concord, California.
U-16 Girls 1-1 MPS Boston
Coastal had to settle for a 1-1 draw with MPS Boston from Massachusetts in their opening match.
U-13 Boys 2-0 Diablo FC
Darren Rath's youngsters made a fine start to the finals after seeing off California's Diablo FC 2-0 on Friday.
U-14 Boys 2-1 Match Fit Academy
Mountain got their tournament campaign off to a fine start with a dramatic 2-1 win over New Jersey's Match Fit Academy. The winning goal came in the last minute.
U-15 Boys 4-2 FC Fredericksburg
Midfielder Devin Phelan scored a hat-trick, as Mountain overpowered Virginia-based FC Fredericksburg 4-2.
U-16 Boys 3-0 Northern Virginia Royals
Mountain made a good start to their campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Northern Virginia Royals at the Land O' Lakes Recreation Center.
U-16 Girls 2-2 Chicago Magic
Former Whitecaps goalkeeper Richard Goddard saw his U-16 Girls side claim an opening-day 2-2 draw with Chicago Magic from Illinois.
U-14 Boys 1-1 California Odyssey SC
Despite falling behind to a second-half goal, striker Dalton San earned Surrey WFC's first-ever result at the North American Finals with a late equalizer, as the U-14 Boys drew 1-1 with California Odyssey.
U-14 Boys 1-1 Kalamazoo Kingdom
Abbotsford kicked off their 2008 campaign with a draw against a tough and physical Kalamazoo Kingdom side, who came to Florida as the top side from the Midwest region.
U-15 Boys 1-2 Ottawa Fury
In a battle of two Canadian teams, it was the Fury from Ottawa that edged out their British Columbia rivals from Abbotsford 2-1.
U-16 Boys 0-0 Black Watch SC
Abbotsford played New England Division champions Black Watch SC from New York State to a scoreless draw.
