Metrotown store doing brisk business
Nearly three weeks since opening its doors, the Whitecaps FC store has been doing very good trade at its Burnaby, BC, location.
The holiday season has seen shoppers frequent the many stores in Metropolis at Metrotown. More specifically, 'Caps fans and consumers alike have joined in the build-up to Major League Soccer in 2011 by purchasing new merchandise at the club's store, next to Sport Chek. Business was particularly brisk on Tuesday, as supporters lined up to meet and get an autograph from the club's first MLS signing in centre back Jay DeMerit.
The new Whitecaps FC adidas jerseys have been the most popular items in the club store, with the authentic home and away versions attracting the most attention. 'Caps scarves and sweatshirts have also sold well since the store opened for business in late November.
"Jerseys and scarves have been the top-selling retail items in our Metrotown store," said Jeff Winslade, Whitecaps FC retail operations. "Sales continue to be strong over the holiday season, and with some new items arriving this week, we expect these strong sales to continue."
Among the new items at the club store are home and away jerseys for infants, which have also been selling well. Fans can also purchase new club apparel, headwear, novelties, and soccer balls at the store.
