Vancouver Mayor salutes Whitecaps FC

The Blue and White get their own day

On Monday, March 14 – just five days before the club’s MLS debut – City of Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson proclaimed the day "Whitecaps Day" and read out a Proclamation to honour the event.

To commemorate the day, Whitecaps FC chief executive officer Paul Barber and president Bobby Lenarduzzi were invited to Vancouver City Hall by Mayor Robertson to witness the raising of the flag on the north lawn. They even found a little time to have a kick around after the flag was raised.

Mayor Robertson and his city councillors received Vancouver Whitecaps FC jerseys, while Whitecaps FC scarves were distributed to the watching crowd.
