VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC IN THE NEWS:

Earlier this morning, Vancouver Whitecaps FC took part in the annual Raise-a-Reader event. The program, which seeks to raise as much money as possible for literacy programs across British Columbia, was a massive success. With the opening match on Bell Pitch downtown at BC Place this Sunday against Portland Timbers, Whitecaps FC players will get their first look at the new Polytan Ligaturf 240 RS+ all-weather turf field. Heading into Sunday's match, Whitecaps FC striker Eric Hassli is eager to open BC Place with a goal to help his team start their new journey on a positive note. "For sure against Portland it would be the right moment - a fresh start," he said. "I hope so” (Bruce Constantineau – Vancouver Sun).

Whitecaps FC rookie defender Michael Boxall was excited to get back on the field last weekend.  “That’s what you look for - I like to play in front of those crowds and those types of games with that sort of atmosphere,” Boxall told MLSsoccer.com after Saturday’s match.
