Who are we looking for?
Anyone and everyone! Please send in your resume to our events team to the position you think you’re best suited for. This is a tremendously beneficial opportunity for you to help kick start or grow your career. We’d love to hear from you.
What’s in it for you?
We encourage anyone to apply who is interested in networking within the sports industry and gaining first-hand experience to pursue a career in sports, human kinetics, youth programming, not-for-profit, broadcasting, marketing, media, communications and much more. We have a number of positions to fill before first kick on March 10, so be sure to take a look at the full list of openings to see what the best fit is for you.
Over the years, there have been a number of volunteers with Whitecaps FC that have used their opportunity to grow professionally. Brandon Timko, our current communications coordinator, for example volunteered with the team for three years. That led to an eight month internship within the communications department. He now works full-time for the club, and this was all made possible with the contacts he gained through volunteering with the team. “The volunteer experience I gained with Whitecaps FC was invaluable for me. I truly love the sport of soccer, and now to be working with Whitecaps FC is a dream come true,” stated Timko.
Brand Ambassador and Partnership Host
The brand ambassador and partnership host positions involve dealing with our partners on a match-by-match basis. Duties include activating contests, inner-bowl partner promotions, hosting partner groups during match-day experiences, assisting partners with on-site activations and set-up and providing additional assistance to partners to maximize their match-day experience. Not only will you build great relationships, have the opportunity to assist in marketing campaigns for numerous well-known brands, and network within the sports industry, you’ll also gain experience in event management. So if you’re looking to kick-start your career, apply now to be a ‘Caps rand ambassador or partnership host.
Kickin’ with the ‘Caps Program Lead
There are many positions within the Kickin’ with the ‘Caps Program, including player escort leads, flag bearer leads, and ball retriever leads that play an integral part in our pre-match ceremonies. These positions will work with youth who will have the opportunity to walk out with MLS players, hold the national flags, and watch over the ball retrievers during the match. Duties involve helping to coordinate the program components for the presentation rehearsal and opening ceremonies, assisting the Kickin’ with the ‘Caps’ supervisor as needed, as well as any other responsibilities that should arise. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to gain valuable volunteer experience with children or in event management. The ideal candidate for these positions is someone who is an early education student, in a teaching program, a youth worker or anyone else looking to gain valuable hours working with children.
