Two Weeks To Go!

Canadian rivals set to kick off MLS season

In exactly two weeks today, Vancouver Whitecaps FC will kick off Round 2 when they host Canadian rivals Montreal Impact on March 10. This match will mark the first time the two Canadian sides will face each other in Major League Soccer (MLS). The 3 p.m. PT kick off at BC Place will start what will be a fantastic day for Vancouver sports fans, as after the soccer match, the Vancouver Canucks will face the the Montreal Canadiens in a second Vancouver v. Montreal contest.  Indeed, March 10 will be a memorable sports day for the city of Vancouver.

Last year’s home opener was a day that no Whitecaps FC fan will ever forget, as our first entry into MLS territory produced a heralded opening match. A sold-out crowd of over 22,000 supporters gathered at Empire Field to be part of the club's Major League Soccer debut, where fans witnessed Eric Hassli’s first two goals of his MLS career in a 4-2 win over Toronto FC.

Now, the 'Caps kick off their second season in MLS versus the Impact. This match will be the first opportunity for Whitecaps FC supporters to see head coach Martin Rennie’s squad in action, with new additions such as Sebastian LeToux, Young-Pyo Lee and Matt Watson, among others.
