‘Caps Chronicle: Cannon’s a keeper!
WHITECAPS FC IN THE NEWS:
How does a goals against average of 0.00 sound? That's what it currently sits at for Vancouver Whitecaps FC, due in large part to goalkeeper Joe Cannon's red-hot performances this season. That’s why it should come as no surprise to learn that Joe was awarded the Major League Soccer (MLS) Save of the Week for the consecutive week running. While he was up against some stiff competition this week he was given the nod with an overwhelming majority. Check out how the fans voted along with video of the determined shot-blocker. Which MLS player's name is on everyone's lips this weekend? That would be Whitecaps FC striker Sébastien Le Toux according to a report from MLSsoccer.com. Find out why it made the top of their list in the feature story: "Top 11 questions heading into the weekend." (Charles Boehm - MLSsoccer.com)
Whitecaps fans are busy picking their fantasy lineups for the Official Whitecaps FC Fantasy League before the April 4th deadline. Considering his shut-out streak, Joe Cannon should be a front-runner for your goalkeeper considerations. For those who just can't figure out just who to pick for their squad while still staying under the salary cap MLSsoccer.com has some recommendations. One of the players they feel to be a lock-in is Whitecaps right fullback Young-Pyo Lee. See what other players you should consider for your starting 11. (MLSsoccer.com - Jimmy Bowers)
In his two years with Philadelphia, Whitecaps FC striker Sébastien Le Toux earned the love and respect of fans there. Always positive, he’s looking forward to seeing some familiar faces upon his return to the 'City of Brotherly Love' for what is guaranteed to be a great match on Saturday. “I am very happy to be coming back," he said. "I am hoping to have a good game and see everybody over there.” (Marc Narducci – Philly.com)
There may have been some difference of opinions upon leaving Philadelphia for Le Toux, but the ‘Caps forward couldn’t be happier with his new home on the west coast. According to one reporter, that’s why the striker feels he has nothing to prove this weekend, and instead believes the soccer will speak for itself. (Marc Weber – The Province)
