The Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) announced today that 11 Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency players have been called into camp with Canadian youth national teams.

Goalkeeper Marco Carducci, defender Alex Comsia, and midfielders Marco Bustos, Jordan Haynes, and Kianz Froese have been called up to Canada's U-17 men's national team. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Nolan Wirth, defenders Sam Adekugbe, Quinton Duncan, and Jackson Farmer, midfielder Sebastien Cabrera, and striker Brody Huitema have been called up to Canada's U-18 men's national team.

“We are extremely excited to have our players selected to the U-17 and U-18 camps," said Stuart Neely, Whitecaps FC head of high performance. "National team activities are an important part of a player’s development, as is the club environment. We are continually working with the CSA to have our players available for these types of events to allow players to have the best of both worlds.”

Carducci and Froese will depart this coming Thursday, November 15, while the rest of the players called up will leave following the 'Caps United States Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) matches against Santa Cruz Breakers on Sunday, November 18.

Canada's men's U-17 team will gather for a 10-day camp next week in the United States and Panama, with three international friendly matches to be played. Coach Sean Fleming has selected 22 players for the camp which runs November 15 to 26. All five Whitecaps FC players were previously called up to the U-17 men's national team in September for the 2012 AGS Cup in Spain.

The U-17 camp will start in Florida with a men's U-17 international friendly match on November 18 against hosts, the United States. The Canadian team then travels to Panama on November 21 before playing their Central American hosts on November 23 and 25.

Canada's men's U-18 team will gather for an eight-day camp next week in California, with two international friendly matches to be played. Coach Robert Gale has selected 18 players for the camp which runs November 17 to 24. The California camp includes men's U-18 international friendly matches against the United States on November 21 and 23.

Of note, Adekugbe, Huitema, and Wirth are making their youth national team debuts. All 18 players selected for this U-18 national team camp will be eligible at the CONCACAF and FIFA U-20 levels until 2015.

Comsia, Huitema and Wirth all previously took part in both BC Soccer Provincial Team Programs and the National Training Centre.
