2014 MLS Cup Playoffs: Conference semifinals enter decisive second legs

MLS Conference Semifinals

The 2014 MLS Cup Playoffs continue this weekend with the conference semifinals set to enter their decisive second legs. Each of the four matches will be played in the next three days, three of which will be televised nationally in Canada.

Here’s what’s in store:

EASTERN CONFERENCE

Saturday, November 8: DC United vs. New York Red Bulls (11:30 a.m. PT, NBC)
The New York Red Bulls carry a two-goal lead to a place where they've never won in the MLS Cup Playoffs – RFK Memorial Stadium – when they face regular season conference champion D.C. United in the second leg of their Eastern Conference Semifinal Series on Saturday. The Red Bulls won 2-0 at Red Bull Arena last Sunday, behind two assists from Thierry Henry.

Sunday, November 9: New England Revolution vs. Columbus Crew (2 p.m. PT, MLS Live in Canada)
The No. 2 New England Revolution return home for the second leg in commanding lead after beating the No.3 Columbus Crew 4-2 in the first leg at Crew Stadium last weekend. Charlie Davies and Lee Nguyen were the stars on the day, accounting for three of the Revolution's four goals.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

Sunday, November 9: LA Galaxy vs. Real Salt Lake (4:30 p.m. PT, TSN2)
No. 2 seed LA Galaxy and No. 3 seed Real Salt Lake enter the decisive leg in their series deadlocked following a scoreless draw at Rio Tinto Stadium. Galaxy goalkeeper Jaime Penedo was the star of the first leg, after making six big saves to keep his side in the game and series.

Monday, November 10: Seattle Sounders FC vs. FC Dallas (7:30 p.m. PT, TSN2)
No. 1 seed Seattle and No. 4 seed FC Dallas are tied up 1-1 through the first leg of the series, with Michel and Osvaldo Alonso trading goals in Frisco. Though there's all to play for in the decisive leg, the Sounders have a slight edge coming into the game, as their away goal would be the tiebreaker if the teams finish scoreless in Seattle.
