PROFILE
A holding midfielder with experience as a team captain, Kevin Cobby was one of four new players to join Whitecaps Residency in its second year in existence. The Toronto, Ontario, native joined the program when he signed on Sept. 10, 2008.

WHITECAPS FC RESIDENCY–USL PDL
2009:
The midfielder made his PDL debut on May 3, as the Residency team drew 2-2 at home with expansion club Victoria Highlanders. He recorded his first PDL point when he assisted on Kenold Versailles' first-half goal during a 1-1 away draw versus Yakima Reds on July 10. Cobby appeared in every PDL match during his rookie season, with the midfielder starting all but two of the Residency team's 16 matches in the league that year. 2010: Cobby scored from the penalty spot during a season-opening 3-2 defeat at local rivals Victoria Highlanders FC on May 8 before assisting on Doudou Toure's goal during a 3-3 home draw versus Abbotsford Mariners on May 14. Cobby also assisted on Alex Semenets' first of two goals during a 5-1 win at Spokane Spiders on July 17.

VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC RESIDENCY
2008-09:
Cobby appeared in all five of the Residency's friendly matches during their successful 12-day tour of Japan in Dec. 2008. He scored in the team's final game of the tour, as Residency defeated Himeji City U-19's 4-2 on Dec. 13. He missed Dallas Cup XXX in Apr. 2009 after picking up an injury while on international duty with the Canadian U-17 national team in Costa Rica. In May 2009, Cobby started all four friendly matches during the Residency team's two-week trip to Germany. This included starts against the U-19 Junior Bundesliga sides of FC Energie Cottbus (May 23), Hansa Rostock (May 26), and Hertha Berlin (May 27). The midfielder also scored a goal during a 2-1 defeat to Greece's Skoda Xanthi FC in Group Two of the 2009 INSEL-CUP junior international tournament in Germany. 2009-10: Cobby started all five friendly matches of the Residency team's two-week trip to Spain in Nov. 2009. He scored in the 2-2 draw versus the U-18 side of Getafe Club de Fútbol on Nov. 5 and the 4-3 win over the U-18 side of the Madrid-based club Torrelodones Club de Fútbol on Nov. 8. In May 2010, Cobby appeared in every match and scored a goal during the Residency team's two-week trip to Germany. This included all four games in the Stemwede International U-19 Youth Tournament and two friendly wins over SuS Holzhausen on May 24 and JFV Jung-Elstern U-19's on May 26.

TORONTO FC ACADEMY
2008: The midfielder had a brief spell with the Toronto FC Academy, having appeared for their U-16 side in the Reserve Division of the eastern-based Canadian Soccer League during the summer. In July, Cobby started all four matches at the Soccer United Marketing (SUM) U-17 Cup tournament in Colorado. He helped TFC Academy U-16's finish top of Group B with three straight victories before losing 2-0 in the semifinals to eventual tournament champions Real Salt Lake.

INTERNATIONAL
U-17: In Nov. 2008, Cobby was called up to the Canadian U-17 national team for a camp in Mexico, as Canada prepared for the 2009 CONCACAF U-17 Championship. The camp included five friendly matches against some of the top clubs in Mexico. The midfielder then started in Canada's 5-2 win over arch-rivals USA in St. Petersburg, Florida, on Feb. 11, 2009, before starting in the squad's two 1-0 defeats in Guatemala on Feb. 14 and 16, 2009, and the 3-2 defeat to Costa Rica on Apr. 4, 2009. Cobby was then selected in Canada's 20-player squad for the 2009 CONCACAF U-17 Championship. He started all three matches in Group A in Tijuana, Mexico, that April, as Canada failed to qualify for the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Nigeria. Prior to that, the Toronto native also participated in national team camps with Canada’s U-15 side in 2006, and the U-16 national team in early 2008.

YOUTH/AMATEUR

The midfielder played club soccer with the Brampton East Chiefs and the Brampton East Chargers of the Ontario Youth Soccer League (OYSL) between 2004 and 2007. With the East Chiefs, Cobby won the prestigious Robbie International Soccer Tournament title in Toronto. He also claimed an Ontario Cup indoor title with Brampton. He was captain of Ontario’s provincial youth teams from 2006 and led his province to a Canadian All-Star Championship title at the U-14 level and a second-place finish at the U-16 level. In fact, he was captain of Ontario at the U-14, U-15, and U-16 age group levels. His provincial team experience saw him play friendly matches abroad in England, France, and Peru.
