PROFILE
A former Inter Milan youth player, Paolo Tornaghi joined Whitecaps FC as a free agent on February 18, 2014 after spending two seasons with Eastern Conference Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire. He was honoured as the 2015 WFC Humanitarian of the Year for his work in the community, then re-signed with the club on March 5, 2016

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
2016: Tornaghi made one regular season appearance - his first in a Whitecaps FC uniform after joining the club in February 2014 - on October 16, recording a six-save clean sheet at San Jose Earthquakes. 2013: Tornaghi appeared in six regular season matches with the Fire, posting a 2W-3L-1D record and recording victories against D.C. United and San Jose Earthquakes. 2012: In his first season with the Fire, Tornaghi started the first three matches of the season while Sean Johnson was away on international duty, posting a shutout while going 1W-1L-1D. He made his MLS debut in a 1-1 draw with Montreal Impact on March 17, making five saves in front of 58,912 fans at Olympic Stadium. The Italian keeper also started a 1-0 victory over the Columbus Crew on March 24, making two saves to preserve the shutout.

2016:
Tornaghi started three of the 'Caps four tournament matches, earning a 1W-2L-0D record with a 1.00 goals-against average. He tallied one clean sheet, coming in the second leg of the semifinal versus Ottawa Fury FC to help the 'Caps advance with a 3-2 aggregate win. 2015: Tornaghi started three ACC fixtures (1W-0L-2D and 1.33 GAA), helping Whitecaps FC claim their first-ever Voyageurs Cup.

CONCACAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
2016:
Tornaghi started two Champions League matches for Whitecaps FC in their four-game group stage sweep, recording one clean sheet versus Sporting Kansas City on August 23. He finished group play with a 0.50 goals-against average. 2015: Tornaghi started all four Champions League matches for the 'Caps, posting a 1W-2L-1D record and 1.25 goals-against average.

UNITED SOCCER LEAGUE
2016:
Tornaghi played one match for Whitecaps FC 2, making three saves in a 2-2 draw versus Real Monarchs SLC. 2015: Tornaghi compiled a 2W-4L-1D record in his seven starts for Whitecaps FC 2 with a 2.29 goals-against average. He recorded one clean sheet versus Arizona United SC on May 31.

INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLIES 
2016: On July 19, Tornaghi recorded a first half clean sheet for Whitecaps FC against Crystal Palace FC. 2012: Tornaghi came on as a second-half sub and played 45 shutout minutes in Chicago Fire’s 1-0 loss to Aston Villa on July 21, then played the full 90 minutes in a 2-2 draw with Santos Laguna on September 9.

2012: Tornaghi started in net for Chicago Fire in their 3-2 loss to the Michigan Bucks on May 29.

MLS RESERVE LEAGUE
2012: Tornaghi started three matches for the Chicago Fire Reserve team, logging 225 minutes.

ITALY
Before joining the Fire in 2012, Tornaghi was a member of storied Italian club FC Internazionale Milano. While on loan from Inter Milan between 2008 and 2011, Tornaghi enjoyed two stints with Serie C side Como, where he appeared in six league matches and two Coppa Italia matches. Tornaghi also played the 2009-10 season on loan with northern Italian side Rimini, where he appeared in two league matches and one Coppa Italia match. 

YOUTH
Began his youth career with storied Italian side Inter Milan during the 2004-05 season.

INTERNATIONAL
Tornaghi has represented his native Italy at every level from U-16 to U-20 and was part of the Azzuri side that participated in the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship, where he appeared in two matches.
