VANCOUVER, BC – As a premier partner with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, BMO Bank of Montreal has enhanced its title sponsorship of the Whitecaps Youth Soccer Development Program by funding the new BMO Bank of Montreal Soccer Spirit Awards.
“We are proud to sponsor the BMO Soccer Spirit Awards with the Whitecaps. We want to inspire soccer involvement at all levels, especially at the grassroots level,” said Derral Moriyama, Senior Vice-President, Commercial Banking, Greater Vancouver District, BMO Bank of Montreal.
The BMO Bank of Montreal Soccer Spirit Awards were awarded to 11 members of a Whitecaps Prospects team or a Whitecaps Super Y-League affiliate team, under the age of 18, who demonstrate the Spirit for Soccer with characteristics such as passion, dedication, leadership, sportsmanship and a desire to succeed in the game. The award is unique in that it recognizes significant soccer and personal achievements by the young players within the community during the 2007 soccer season.

All the recipients were entered into a drawn to receive an $800 BMO Intuition RESP and Carley Radomski was the lucky winner.
BMO’s partnership with the Vancouver Whitecaps complements its sponsorship of the Toronto FC; BMO Field, Canada’s National Soccer Stadium in Toronto; and the Canadian Soccer Association, where BMO is the official bank and a primary partner. BMO Insurance was also a major sponsor of the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup held this past summer across Canada.
