Galaxy to play Caps November 7

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and Los Angeles Galaxy, announced today that the exhibition match between the Galaxy and Whitecaps has been rescheduled to Wednesday, November 7. All tickets for the original October 3 date will be honoured.

“We are ecstatic to be able to confirm a date and move ahead with hosting a spectacular event,” said Bob Lenarduzzi, Vancouver Whitecaps President. “We have sold over 40,000 tickets and look forward to a very entertaining match.”

The original match was postponed when Galaxy’s star midfielder David Beckham sprained his right knee in the SuperLiga final against Pachuca of Mexico back on August 29. Since then, Beckham has received regular treatment and returned to the pitch last week for the Galaxy’s final two regular season games. Although Los Angeles failed to qualify for Major League Soccer’s postseason, the Galaxy finished the regular season as one of the league’s hottest teams with five wins, one loss and two ties.

To prepare for the international friendly, the Whitecaps are currently practicing three-times-a-week at the Whitecaps Training Centre on the campus of Simon Fraser University with players who are in town. The remainder of the squad will return to Vancouver this Thursday for a two-week training camp.

The Whitecaps versus Galaxy exhibition match will be played at BC Place Stadium on Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. Individual tickets start at just $25 and are available at all Ticketmaster locations, by phone at 604.280.4400 or online at www.ticketmaster.ca. Any patron who has purchased a ticket, but is now unable to attend due to the rescheduled date, is asked to contact the original point of purchase. For additional information,
