Caps affiliate falls in Super Y semifinals

Vancouver Whitecaps affiliate Mountain WFC U-14 Boys lost 2-1 to Northern Virginia Royals in their Super Y-League North American semifinal on Monday in Florida.Mountain WFC fell two goals behind early in Monday’s game, and despite a late comeback, they were unable to recover. Defeat not only ended Mountain’s perfect record of three wins and no losses, but denied the team a chance of playing in Tuesday’s championship final, despite an impressive overall performance in reaching the semifinal stage.

In Monday’s consolation action, Coastal WFC U-13 Boys made it four straight draws to finish the tournament after a 2-2 result with Carolina Dynamo, while Coastal WFC U-15 Boys battled hard against FC Westchester, but came up short to lose 2-1.Mountain WFC U-16 Boys, who were coming off a heartbreaking 3-1 loss to Mustang SC, fell 3-0 in Monday’s consolation game with Northern Virginia Royals, while Mountain WFC U-16 Girls were on the wrong end of a 5-0 defeat to the Eagles in their consolation contest.The final consolation game on Monday also ended in defeat, as Mountain WFC U-15 Girls lost 1-0 to West Michigan Fire Juniors.
