Caps appearing at BC High School finals

Boys high school soccer in British Columbia reaches its climax this month, as the three provincial championships conclude another season of action.

With Victoria’s Glenlyon Norfolk School claiming the Boys A title in Langley in early November, the AA and AAA championships are set to determine the provincial champions for the 2007/08 school year. As part of those finals taking place this week, members of the Vancouver Whitecaps men’s team will be participating in the tournaments’ festivities.

Captain Jeff Clarke will be in attendance for Tuesday’s AA provincial championship awards banquet at the Coquitlam Plaza Inn, while on Wednesday, striker Eduardo Sebrango be at the Burnaby West Sports Complex to present the championship trophy and the Domenic Mobilio Golden Boot award for the AA finals.

Wednesday's championship game will see Notre Dame of Vancouver take on Panorama Ridge from Surrey, while Sa-Hali of Kamloops will meet St Andrew's from Victoria in the third-place game.

On Saturday, midfielder Alfredo Valente (pictured) will take part in Saturday’s AAA finals at the Burnaby West Sports Complex by presenting the championship trophy and Domenic Mobilio Golden Boot award to the tournament’s recipients.

Action from the AA championships began on Monday, with 16 schools from around BC in four groups of four teams for round-robin play. The same format will be used with the 16 schools that have reached the AAA championships, with round-robin action beginning this Thursday.
