1. He was a striker with Iceland's national team from 1972-85. He was capped 41 times and scored nine goals.

  1. He received a medal from the president of Estonia in 2000 for his help developing the game as national team coach from 1996-99. No. 135 in FIFA rankings in February, 1996; No.70 in December, 1999.
  1. Thordarson said that Estonia only had 20 men's players with passports when he arrived, due in part to problems with Russia. Estonia only gained its independence in 1991.
  1. Younger brother Olafur, 42, coaches Fram Reykjavik in Iceland. Olafur played for Iceland vs. Estonia when Teitur was coaching in 1996.
  1. Canadian women's team coach Even Pellerud succeeded Thordarson at Lillestrom of the Norway men's premier league in 1996.
