Whitecaps U-16 Boys 6-1 Chicago Kickers
Vancouver Whitecaps U-16 Boys Prospects got off to a positive start at the 2008 Las Vegas College Showcase with a 6-1 victory over Chicago Kickers.Two goals by West Vancouver's Curtis Helm helped Bart Choufour's side to a convincing Friday afternoon result in Group D. Jerome Lou, Jack Cubbon, Coulton Jackson and Ryan Dhillon also found the scoresheet against their age-group opponents from Illinois.The Whitecaps struck after three minutes when Lou finished off a Jackson through ball before Helm scored the first of his two goals on 16 minutes.It became 3-0 on 25 minutes when Cubbon struck home Gagan Josan's corner from the right before some neat skill from Lou set up Helm to strike home his second goal on 33 minutes, as the Whitecaps took a four-goal lead into the halftime break.The second half saw the Whitecaps add to their lead through Jackson and Dhillon before Chicago struck back with a consolation goal from a counterattack.

Whitecaps U-16 Boys 1-1 FC Sacramento Rangers
Vancouver Whitecaps U-16 Prospects followed their win over Chicago Kickers with a 1-1 draw against FC Sacramento on Friday evening.Head Coach Bart Choufour had to juggle his back-line for the team's second game, as Erik Hacker was unable to play because of an ankle sprain. It was Sacramento that were the better side in the first half of the Group D contest, but the match remained scoreless at halftime.It was Sacramento that took the lead eight minutes into the second half, as Curtis Helm's pass was intercepted and converted into a goal, despite the best efforts of Whitecaps goalkeeper Callum Irving.Vancouver were able to equalize midway through the half, as a nice combination of passes between Coulton Jackson and Gagan Josan set up Scott Medley to cross from the left. Ryan Dhillon was quickest to react and struck home his shot at the far post for 1-1.Helm then had a chance to win it in the dying stages, but the Sacramento goalkeeper was equal to the task, as the Whitecaps caused the Rangers plenty of problems with their tempo of play.The result puts the Whitecaps in a good position to reach the semifinals, with their final group game coming on Saturday against San Ramon Strike Force.
