The Vancouver Whitecaps announced Tuesday the signing of former D.C. United midfielder Justin Moose to a one-year contract plus an option.

Moose, a 24-year-old native of Statesville, N.C., spent the last two years with the MLS club and joins two other former D.C. United players -- forward Nick Addlery and goalie Jay Nolly -- on the Whitecaps roster.

Moose was D.C. United's first round pick (7th overall) in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft.

The 5-foot-7, 145-pound midfielder spent most of his rookie year playing for reserve team, then played seven games with the big club in 2007.

He started four times and logged 319 minutes.

Prior to joining D.C. United, Moose enjoyed a successful four-year career at Wake Forest University where he was named first team all-conference as a senior.
