'Caps in Williams Lake this weekend

Vancouver Whitecaps FC players and coaches will be in Williams Lake this weekend to provide a challenging, focused and fun professional training camp for youth from the region.

The training camp, which will take place from Friday, April 25, to Sunday, April 27, at Esler Fields, is part of the Whitecaps mandate to grow the game of soccer in British Columbia and Canada. The camp is being delivered in partnership with the Williams Lake Youth Soccer Association (WLYSA) and is now full. Youth ages six to 16, of all skill levels will be participating.

Two former Canadian internationals and Vancouver Whitecaps current director of youth Dan Lenarduzzi, and camp manager Silvano (Sam) Lenarduzzi, will manage the camp, leading top-class professional instruction from Whitecaps coaches and players. The Whitecaps will work with representatives from the WLYSA to identify talented players in the region, and to provide those prospects with the opportunity to be evaluated and potentially play in the Whitecaps youth system.

Partial funding for this weekend’s camp has been generously provided by the TELUS Community Fund. TELUS team member Kevin Gilder, a volunteer with the WLYSA, helped to secure this grant for the Whitecaps Foundation and will be participating in the weekend’s events.
