Jessie Farrell headlines halftime

Vancouver Whitecaps FC is proud to announce that Canadian country music star Jessie Farrell will be performing at the exhibition match between the Whitecaps and Los Angeles Galaxy - featuring David Beckham, Landon Donovan and Ante Jazic - on Tuesday, May 13 at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton.

The international friendly, presented by the Edmonton Sun, will be a rematch of last November’s 0-0 draw in Vancouver, which was played in front of 48,172 fans at BC Place Stadium.

Farrell, who hails from Vancouver, will be singing both the Canadian and U.S. national anthems, as well as performing at halftime.

Farrell is one of country music’s up and coming stars. She has opened for mega-stars such as Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, and recently played on the Alan Jackson and Brooks & Dunn tour that took place across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta.

Her 2007 album, Nothing Fancy, received great reviews and she was nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year and the Chevy Rising Star Award at the 2007 Canadian Country Music Awards. The single “Let’s Talk About Love” reached the top 10 on the Canadian Country Singles chart.

Over 27,000 tickets have already been sold for the match between the Whitecaps and Galaxy. Individual tickets range in price from $25 to $85 and are available through Ticketmaster by calling 780.451.8000 or by visiting
