Teitur Thordarson's first foray into the fun-filled USL experience of back-to-back games proved successful Saturday, as the Vancouver Whitecaps (4-2-1) won 1-0 at the Portland Timbers (3-1-4), snapping Portland's 20-game home unbeaten streak.
After Friday's loss to Seattle -- before his team boarded a bus for the seven-hour overnight trip -- Thordarson was questioned as to the last time he coached in back-to-back games.
"I didn't know it existed," he replied.
Bolivian midfielder Vicente Arze made it a memorable first with a 60th-minute tally that stood up as the winner. Former D.C. United backup keeper Jay Nolly earned the clean sheet in his Whitecaps league debut.
Wednesday, the Caps visit Charleston.
