Vancouver Whitecaps and Charleston Battery remain out front in the United Soccer Leagues First Division standings, despite only claiming draws over the weekend.
There were four drawn results in the six league games during the past weekend's action, with only Atlanta Silverbacks and Montreal Impact taking maximum points from their home games.
There were three games on Friday night, and all of them ended in stalemate. The most eventful of those contests was in Upstate New York, as ten-man Carolina RailHawks claimed a 3-3 result with Rochester Rhinos at PAETEC Park. In South Carolina, a fine Ricardo Sanchez strike earned Minnesota Thunder a 1-1 draw in Charleston, while Miami FC Blues got some fine goalkeeping from Josh Saunders to earn their fourth goalless draw in their last six games after a 0-0 stalemate at Seattle Sounders.
The lone game on Saturday night saw Silverbacks striker Macoumba Kandji claim two goals and an assist in a 3-1 home win over Puerto Rico Islanders.
The two Canadian clubs were in action on Sunday, with the Impact continuing their resurgence under head coach John Limniatis following a convincing 3-0 victory over Carolina at Saputo Stadium. On the west coast, Vancouver needed a goal from Chris Pozniak to earn a 1-1 draw with a Miami FC side that made nine changes for their visit to Swangard Stadium.
