— Toronto FC forward Danny Dichio will not travel with the team to Vancouver for Wednesday's Canadian championship rematch with the Vancouver Whitecaps because he has a suspected concussion.
It is not certain how it happened except that it came during last Tuesday's 1-0 loss to the Whitecaps at BMO Field in one of the Canadian championship round-robin games.
It is not certain yet whether he will be able to rejoin the team in Chicago for Saturday's Major League Soccer match against the Chicago Fire.
"He can't remember anything in the game (against Vancouver) actually happening to him," head coach John Carver said on Monday. "So it could have happened at any stage. He did say he blocked a ball that was hit toward the goal and hit him on the top of the head. And that's the only thing we can think of. We have to keep an eye on it and see what happens."
Dichio was one of several Toronto regulars who did not play in Saturday's friendly against the Mexican side Pachuca at BMO Field. The match ended 1-1 but Pachuca won 4-3 on penalties.
Defender Olivier Tebily also will miss the trip because of a sprained ankle and defender-midfielder Todd Dunivant is having surgery on his injured ankle.
Toronto has been negotiating to bring in a couple of players who have been playing in England, Paul Dickov and Darren Huckerby.
Dickov flew back home on Sunday after a visit to Toronto that included a training session with TFC.
"We put in an offer to him," Carver said. "We'll wait and see what comes of that."
Huckerby was in San Jose on the weekend to check out the situation there with the Earthquakes after he had visited Toronto last week and Carver was not certain of the status of those negotiations.
Toronto has first MLS rights for both players.
