Clarke named in Team of the Week

Vancouver Whitecaps captain Jeff Clarke is one of three defenders to be named in the latest USL First Division Team of the Week.

Clarke makes the Week 21 squad after Sunday's performance in the centre of defence for the Whitecaps, as Vancouver drew 0-0 with Minnesota Thunder at Swangard Stadium. The weekly accolade is Clarke's second of the season, having made the weekly all-star team back in Week 13.

The Blue & White skipper joins fellow defenders Cedric Joqueviel from Montreal Impact and Puerto Rico Islanders man Cristian Arrieta as being chosen by USL-1, with Arrieta being named Player of the Week following his assist in Puerto Rico's late win over Vancouver on Friday.

The match-winner from Friday's game was Noah Delgado. The Islanders player was one of five midfielders to be picked by the league, with Minnesota Thunder's Stephen deRoux, Portland Timbers' Chris Brown, Seattle Sounders' Leighton O'Brien, and Carolina RailHawks' Matt Watson being the four other players to be selected.

Rochester Rhinos striker Matthew Delicate joined Seattle goalscorer Sebastien Le Toux in being the team's two forwards, while Minnesota's Nicolas Platter was the side's goalkeeper of the week.
