Surrey keeper saves the day - Surrey Now

Surrey Now

Tyler Baldock's first professional soccer game was a memorable one as the back-up goalkeeper backstopped the Vancouver Whitecaps to a 2-0 win over Montreal in USL First Division playoff action in Burnaby Sunday.

The Surrey resident was pushed into action when Whitecaps starter Jay Nolly received a red card in the first game of the two-game set. Vancouver dropped that game 1-0 but bounced back with a 2-0 win Sunday to win the series by an aggregate of 2-1.

Baldock was solid in Sunday's win, especially in the second half when Montreal was pressing.

Vancouver now hosts Puerto Rico in the championship final Oct. 12.
