Whitecaps strike for Canada in Mexico

Two goals by Vancouver Whitecaps FC youngster Coulton Jackson led Canada's U-17 men's national team to a 5-1 victory over Querétaro FC Youth in Guadalajara, Mexico, on Sunday.

The Surrey, BC, native, who has been a member of the Whitecaps Delta Prospects Academy since early September, scored twice in the first half to lead Sean Fleming's side to a comfortable win in the fourth match of their five-game Mexican tour.

The young Canadians got off to a great start, as Jackson broke the deadlock on eight minutes before Whitecaps Residency midfielder Russell Teibert doubled Canada's lead four minutes later.

Jackson then gave Canada a 3-0 halftime lead with his second goal of the game before substitute Jordan Ongaro made it 4-0 shortly before the hour mark. On 62 minutes, Ezequiel Lubocki scored Canada's fifth and final goal of the friendly contest before Querétaro spoiled goalkeeper Richard Causton's clean sheet with a consolation marker on 74 minutes.

The U-17 men will wrap up their trip to Mexico with a final friendly match versus Chivas Guadalajara Youth on Tuesday.
