BC players named to Super Y Teams

Several Vancouver Whitecaps FC and BCSA affiliates and partner players have been honoured with places in the 2008 USL Super Y-League All-Tournament Teams.

A total of 13 players were selected from BC following their performances in last month's Super Y-League North American Finals in Tampa, Florida.

Included are seven selections from Mountain WFC, with three of those players coming from the club's successful U-16 Boys team that won their first North American title on November 25.

Coastal WFC had three girls players selected to the All-Tournament Teams, while Surrey WFC had a selection in the U-14 Boys All-Tournament Team. Abbotsford Mariners also had two boys players selected following their efforts in Florida last month.

At the U-13 level, Mountain striker Paulo Dait was named in the Boys All-Tournament Team, while Coastal defender Justine Do earned a spot in the Girls All-Tournament Team.

The U-14 Boys All-Tournament Team includes Mountain goalkeeper Simon Cohen, Surrey midfielder Dalton San, and Abbotsford forward Gurminder Kang. Coastal defender Chelsea Jackson, meanwhile, made the U-14 Girls All-Tournament Team.

Abbotsford goalkeeper Matt Kidwell and Mountain striker Taj Sangara were named in the U-15 Boys All-Tournament Team, while the Mountain trio of defender Paul Clerc, and forwards Paul Piche and Yeo (Alex) Yoon made the U-16 Boys All-Tournament Team. Coastal defender Jennifer Kidd and Mountain striker Amanda Lawrence made the same all-star squad for U-16 Girls.
