Irvine joins Whitecaps FC

Vancouver Whitecaps FC announce that Dave Irvine has joined the Whitecaps staff as the club's manager of Technical Programs.

Irvine brings a wealth of technical knowledge to the club. He is a certified Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) 'A' Licence coach and has many years of experience in both the management of player and coaching development at the club, provincial, and national levels, as well as with the Whitecaps.

Irvine will play a key management role in the creation, coordination, and delivery of the Whitecaps club curriculum and programming, as well as the club's player and coaching development. This will include the integration and management of the newly-announced Whitecaps Interactive, which is a partnership with Scouting Solutions that will provide an online athlete and coach development program.

Irvine will work closely with the new managing director of Professional Development, Chris Murphy, as well as the senior and youth coaching staff of the club.

“Adding someone of Dave’s experience and talent to the Whitecaps technical staff is a key building block for our Whitecaps Professional Development program," said Whitecaps director of youth Dan Lenarduzzi. "In addition, Dave’s knowledge and experience with both the BC club system and with BC Soccer will help us strengthen both our development program and our club partnerships and communication.”

Irvine joins the Whitecaps after spending over three years with Surrey FC. As a former staff coach with the British Columbia Soccer Association, he spearheaded the BCSA's coaching development program across the province and remains an instructor for the Community Coach and 'B' Licence programs. He has a long track record of been involved in all facets of player development with various club and academy settings at the grassroots level. Irvine has also coached within the BCSA provincial team program and the Whitecaps youth program for the past eight years. He is also a former coach with the CSA National Training Centre.
Irvine will begin his position immediately with the Whitecaps and can be reached via email at dirvine@whitecapsfc.com.
