Prospects evaluations kick off this week

Vancouver Whitecaps FC begin preparations for their Prospects summer program this week.

The Whitecaps will run Prospects teams for boys and girls at the U-11, U-12, and U-18 levels. Players are provided professional training with Whitecaps staff coaches, as well as local and international competition in the form of exhibition matches and tournaments from May through to early August.

As part of their program, the U-18 Boys and Girls teams will also participate in the Men's and Women's Premier Divisions of the Pacific Coast Soccer League (PCSL), as well as represent the province of British Columbia at the 2009 Canada Games in Prince Edward Island this coming August.

Players are selected from the fall Prospects cycle, partner club recommendations, and upcoming evaluation camps in March and early April. Evaluations will include 'OPEN' sessions for any players interested in being evaluated and 'INVITE' sessions. 'INVITE' sessions consist of identified players from the 'OPEN' evaluations, existing Prospects players, and any additional players that have been identified prior to the selection and announcement of the age-group rosters in mid April.
