BURNABY, B.C. — Martin Nash scored in the 63rd minute as the Vancouver Whitecaps earned their first win of season with a 1-0 victory over the Portland Timbers in USL First Division play Saturday night. Seeking their first home goal of the season, the Whitecaps applied pressure throughout the opening half, outshooting Portland 9-3, but were unable to get it past former L.A. Portland's Cameron Knowles attempted to clear the ball, but it rolled to Nash who put it past a helpless Cronin.
