It's week two in the USL Super Y-League, as the Pacific Northwest division returns to action again this weekend with several big match-ups.
The West Coast Capitals open their 2009 season at home in Victoria, BC, when they host Coquitlam Metro-Ford for a full set of eight matches on Saturday. Mountain WFC will also kick off their season when their Girls teams travel to rivals Coastal WFC, along with their U-13 Boys team.
On Sunday, Abbotsford Mariners are back in action with their home opener. In a rematch of week one, they host the return leg of a two weekend series with Surrey WFC.
Coquitlam continue their busy travel schedule when they visit Surrey on Sunday for a full slate of eight matches.
Okanagan WFC have the weekend off after opening their season away on the Lower Mainland last week.
In last weekend's opening league action, newcomers Coquitlam opened their inaugural season with seven matches, which included three wins, three draws, and one defeat against Abbotsford last Saturday. The U-13 Boys, U-13 Girls, and U-16 Girls all drew 1-1, the U-14 and U-16 Boys won 1-0, while the U-15 Girls won 3-2. The only defeat of the day was the U-15 Boys falling 1-0.
Other Saturday matches included Coastal opening at home by winning five, drawing one, and losing one to Okanagan. Coastal picked up wins from their U-13, U-15 and U-16 Girls teams, along with their U-13 and U-14 Boys teams. Okanagan struck back with a U-14 Girls victory and U-16 Boys draw.
On Sunday, Coquitlam hosted Okanagan and had their way by winning six of their eight matches. All four Girls teams picked up wins, while the U-13 and U-14 Boys also recorded victories. The only blemish on the day came from the U-15 Boys' 2-2 draw and the U-16 Boys' 2-1 defeat.
On Sunday, Surrey played Abbotsford in their home opener and recorded two wins, two defeats, and three draws. The U-13 and U-16 Girls, along with the U-14 Boys, all played to draws, while the Surrey U-15 Girls and U-13 Boys posted wins. Surrey's U-15 and U-16 Boys both fell to opening defeats.
