  • THE BUZZ:

It's a must-win for the Vancouver Whitecaps Tuesday at Swangard Stadium because Toronto FC could clinch its first trophy with just a tie in Nutrilite Canadian Championship soccer action (Sportsnet 7:30 p.m.).

  • BEAT THE T-DOT:

Major League Soccer's Reds (2-0 in tourney) are facing the Whitecaps (2-1) in the penultimate match of the second annual playoff to determine Canada's entry in the CONCACAF Champions League. Visiting Vancouver was a 1-0 loser when ex-Cap Kevin Harmse scored May 6 at BMO Field.

  • IMPACTFUL:

The Whitecaps twice shutout the Montreal Impact to eliminate the defending champions from contention. Montreal meets Toronto on June 18. The winner of the three-team tournament also gets the Voyageurs Cup.

  • REBOUND:

Toronto FC (4-4-4 in MLS) lost 3-0 to the Houston Dynamo on Saturday. Vancouver (3-2-2 in USL-1) lost 2-0 to the Portland Timbers on Saturday. The Whitecaps and Timbers join Toronto in MLS in 2011.

  • ALL THE WAY?:

"If we could go all the way we can represent not only Toronto but Canada as a whole," said Dwayne De Rosario, a nine-year MLS vet in his first Toronto season.
