  • THE BUZZ:

The Vancouver Whitecaps return to action after a four-day break to face the Carolina RailHawks in Cary, N.C. today (5 p.m., Fox Soccer Channel).

  • NEED A WIN:

The Caps were 2-1 losers in Miami on Sunday to the Blues and fell to 5-6-3. The 8-4-3 RailHawks are flying higher than the reigning United Soccer Leagues' First Division champs. Caps' midfielder Justin Moose, who hails from North Carolina, remains sidelined with a foot injury.

  • GET TOGETHER:

Vancouver is 2-1-2 all-time against Carolina. Caps fans are gathering to watch the match at the Terminal City Lions Pub in downtown. The Hawks fly north Aug. 15 and the Caps return there on Aug. 18.

  • W-LEAGUE WORLD:

The 3-2-5 Whitecaps women visit 3-2-6 Colorado Force FC at 6 p.m. today and meet the 3-5-3 Real Colorado Cougars on Sunday afternoon. The Caps, under head coach Alan Koch, have two wins and a draw in their last three games after a mediocre start.

  • SHORT-STAFFED:

The Caps will field a depleted roster because Carmelina Moscato, Jodi-Ann Robinson, Chelsea Stewart and Shannon Woeller are away on national team duty for Sunday's friendly with the United States in Rochester, N.Y.
