Prospects at Surf Cup this weekend

Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-11 and U-12 Prospects teams will be in action at the prestigious Surf Cup tournament in San Diego, California, this weekend.

The U-11 and U-12 Boys and Girls Prospects teams will be facing some of North America's top youth clubs in an event where no Canadian team has ever won. The Surf Cup is widely recognized as the top youth tournament in North America.

Each Prospects team will play three matches in the group stage on Saturday and Sunday. The tournament will then culminate with championship finals on Monday.

The Whitecaps U-11 Girls are in Group C and open their tournament campaign against Los Angeles Rampage FC, who hail from the California South region. In Saturday’s second match, the U-11 Girls take on San Diego Surf White from California South before wrapping up group play versus Tophat 16 Gold from Georgia on Sunday.

The U-12 Girls Prospects have also been drawn in Group C and will play two teams from California South in Arsenal FC and Carmel Valley on Saturday. On Sunday, they complete group play against Palm Beach Magicjacks from Florida.

The Whitecaps U-11 Boys are in Bracket B and will play Santa Barbara SC White from California North and San Diego Surf Academy from California South on Saturday before facing another California North outfit in PAC Impact.

The U-12 Boys Prospects will begin their tournament campaign by playing Dallas Texans 97B South before taking on San Diego Surf Academy on Saturday. The 'Caps will wrap up the group stage by playing Crossfire Premier Spidahl from Washington State on Sunday.
