Old pals will join battle - The Province

BY MARC WEBER

Geordie Lyall played along-side Steve Kindel for the better part of a decade in Vancouver, so it's going to be a strange night in Rochester for the Whitecaps defender.

Kindel, one of three local veterans released by the Caps this offseason, signed with the Rhinos last week and is expected to start tonight.

"It will be interesting this time with Stevie on the left side," said Lyall, a friend of Kindel's who is likely to start at right back for the Caps. "It should be a fun battle."

Kindel, 32, helped the Caps to USL-1 titles in '06 and '08. The Burnaby native left the club second on the all-time games played list (287), second in minutes (24,009) and ninth in points (97).
