Budnyy's late goal gives RailHawks 1-1 draw with Whitecaps - Canadian Press

CARY, N.C. — Andriy Budnyy scored in the 87th minute as the Carolina RailHawks salvaged a 1-1 draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps in United Soccer Leagues First Division action Tuesday.

John Cunliffe sent the ball to Budnyy, who sidestepped a Vancouver defender and fired the ball past Whitecaps goalkeeper Jay Nolly.

Marcus Haber had given the Whitecaps a 1-0 lead in the 66th minute. The young striker collected Mason Trafford's flicked pass, beat a defender and slotted the ball past Carolina 'keeper Eric Reed. The Whitecaps (7-9-6) had their winless streak extended to five games. They remained in seventh place in the USL First Division.
