West Brom look at Harber

West Bromwich Albion have taken Canadian forward Marcus Haber on trial.

The 20-year-old is currently with Vancouver Whitecaps in his homeland, but he is keen to return to Europe.

He was previously on the books of Dutch side FC Groningen, but failed to make it into their first team.

He had trials with Leeds, Gillingham and Hartlepool last year, but a move did not materialise and he joined The Whitcaps in February this year.

After a successful campaign with Vancouver, he has now joined West Brom on trial and will look to impress manager Roberto Di Matteo over the next week.

"He's a striker, has good credentials and we are always interested at looking at players," said Di Matteo.

"But I have no plans to bring anyone else in on trial as we have such a busy schedule coming up."

Meanwhile, Vancouver have confirmed Tottenham's Paul Barber as their new chief executive officer and he will begin work next year as they prepare for their inaugural season in MLS.
