Kick For A Cure Soccerfest

Kick For a Cure 2010 is set to kick off on Saturday, July 24, at Heritage Woods Secondary in Port Moody, BC, and Vancouver Whitecaps FC are pleased to partner with the childhood cancer initiative, which is in its third year of existence.

Already having raised $25,000 towards pediatric cancer research, proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the Michael Cuccione Foundation and the Whitecaps Foundation. The Whitecaps Foundation is dedicated to helping create the fittest generation of British Columbia youth by 2020.

On the heels of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Kick For a Cure 2010 will be a World Cup style 24-team co-ed tournament. In addition to the six-a-side tournament, the fun-filled day will include exciting activities for children, including pony rides, balloon artists, beat the goalie competitions, and much more. Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club, with assistance from Whitecaps FC, will also conduct soccer clinics for players aged U-5 to U-13.

Although there are no registration fees involved, participants are encouraged to gather pledges in advance of the tournament. Kick for a Cure 2010 is set to run this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit
