Prospects trio earn Canada call-up

CSA & Whitecaps FC
The Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) announced today that three members of the Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-18 Girls Prospects have been selected for a 10-day training camp with Canada's U-17 women's national team in Santiago, Chile.

Prospects centre back
Nicole Setterlund
, central midfielder Vanessa Kovacs, and striker
Abigail Raymer
are part of a 22-player squad that head coach Bryan Rosenfeld is taking to Santiago, Chile, from this Sunday until Tuesday, August 3. The 10-day camp will include three friendly matches - two of which will be against Chile U-17 women's squad next Wednesday, July 28, and Sunday, August 1. In between those two matches, Canada will play a match versus Chile's U-21 women's side.

For Rosenfeld, the Chilean camp is his last opportunity to evaluate his squad before Canada travels to Trinidad & Tobago for this September's FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. "The three matches (in five days) will provide our staff with the best opportunity to see the players perform," Rosenfeld told CanadaSoccer.com.

Canada will have a final camp in late August before departing for Trinidad & Tobago in September. Drawn in Group D, Rosenfeld's squad will face Ghana, Republic of Ireland, and Brazil in the Caribbean. In 2008, Canada reached the quarterfinals of the inaugural FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in New Zealand.
