2010 Umbro Boot Drive

Vancouver Whitecaps FC are encouraging all fans to lend a helping hand at Swangard Stadium this Sunday, September 5, for the third annual Umbro Boot Drive.

For the second consecutive year, Whitecaps FC - along with longstanding partner Umbro - have partnered with SOS Children's Villages Canada to present 'A day of giving in support of SOS Children’s Villages.'

When Whitecaps FC host Puerto Rico Islanders on Sunday afternoon at Swangard, fans are asked to take advantage of this unique opportunity to give back to the community by bringing their gently-worn boots and/or other soccer equipment as donations for SOS Children’s Villages. Monetary donations will also be accepted.

All those who donate their soccer equipment will receive a special 25 per cent off coupon for their next Umbro purchase, at participating stores, which could come in handy with the soccer season just around the corner. SOS Children’s Villages volunteers will be on hand at each gate from the time the gates open to the conclusion of the match, to collect donations. They will also have a booth set up on the concourse behind the main grandstand at Swangard to offer more insight into their organization.

SOS Children’s Villages is a foster home that helps raise orphaned and abandoned children, in addition to helping poor families care for their children. Equipment that cannot be used at SOS Children’s Villages will be sold in their thrift stores, with proceeds returning to the charitable organization.

In addition to their partnership with FIFA, SOS Children’s Villages is the charity of choice of HUB International Insurance Brokers - one of Whitecaps FC's key sponsors.

We strongly urge all Whitecaps fans to participate in this unique opportunity and demonstrate the spirit of giving on Sunday afternoon at Swangard.
