Whitecaps FC are searching for the best singing talent in British Columbia, in the hopes of finding the official anthem singer for their 2011 inaugural MLS season. The club has decided to open the door to accept submissions from the public to uncover fresh undiscovered talent in the area.
“Having a consistent anthem singer who can unite fans of all demographics, ignite passion, and actively inspire fans to sing the national anthem will be a key event component to our home field success,” said Whitecaps FC director of events Hillary Campbell.
Whitecaps FC are asking anyone interested to submit their audition videos online. The group will be narrowed down to 10 finalists, who will be invited to participate in a live audition at Empire Field in early March. An esteemed panel of judges made up of Whitecaps FC executives and a member of the local music industry will have the final decision on the winner. This open call audition process will provide a great opportunity for unknown singers to jump into the spotlight.
