Women - Julie Armstrong 2010

With less than a month remaining before the start of the 2011 United Soccer Leagues W-League season, Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today that tickets are now on sale for the Whitecaps Women’s Soccer Series presented by Kia.

Individual match tickets are available for the affordable price of $12 online at whitecapsfc.com/wtickets. Groups and teams can receive special ticket pricing and benefits by contacting Hugh Hamilton at 778.330.1360 or hhamilton@whitecapsfc.com. Tickets will also be available at the gate.

"Our successful season last year was attributed in no small part to the great fans who helped us lead the league in attendance,” said Hubert Busby Jr., Whitecaps FC women’s team head coach. “This season, we have another exciting roster of players, and many of them grew up following Whitecaps FC in the W-League. It’s important that young players have role models and goals that they aspire to reach, so we again look forward to showcasing elite level, family-friendly soccer to fans at each of our community home games.”

In 2011, defending W-League Western Conference champions and two-time W-League champions Whitecaps FC will play their regular season home schedule at seven different home venues throughout the province of British Columbia, as part of the Whitecaps Women's Soccer Series presented by Kia - in partnership with the Girls Metro Soccer League (GMSL). Whitecaps FC will kick off their 2011 home schedule on Sunday, May 22, at 4 p.m. PT, when they battle Seattle Sounders at Percy Perry Stadium in Coquitlam, BC- hosted by Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club. Five days later, the 'Caps host Colorado Rush at Chilliwack's Exhibition Stadium at 7:00 p.m. PT – hosted by Chiliwack FC.

Additional home venues include Surrey's Newton Athletic Park on Friday, June 10; Whistler's Myrtle Philip Field on Friday, June 24; Richmond's Minoru Arena on Canada Day (Friday, July 1); and Penticton's Kings Park Field on Friday, July 8. The team concludes the regular season at Langley’s McLeod Athletic Park on Friday, July 15.

Whitecaps FC will hold free pre-match clinics and halftime mini games for local youth players. There will also be post-match autograph sessions with the Whitecaps FC women's team players.

This year’s Whitecaps FC women’s team features a talented roster comprised of many returning players from last season’s W-League Championship finalists, as well as a number of other accomplished youth, collegiate and national team standouts from Canada, the United States and Chinese Taipei.

The ‘Caps begin the 2011 season on the road against W-League expansion outfit Victoria Highlanders FC at Bear Mountain Stadium in Langford, BC, on Sunday, May 15, at 4:00 p.m. PT.
